Tool 11: Self Assessing and Reflecting

1.  My favorite tool in my box is the Wordle.  I love making the posters and making our gym language enriched.  One of the new tools I am using is the iMovie for student portfolios.
2.  I have loved the technology piece and find that it enhances what we do in Health Fitness when it is appropriate.  My vision has been widen and with the digital resources available to us, it is now feasible for us to incorporate them into our lesson activities.  I will be enhancing classroom management, station activities and projects based on student numbers and available resources.
3.  The only thing that surprised me from the 11 Tools program is how much is out there and the time needed to explore and practice for mastery and implementation to occur.

I am very thankful that I was required to complete this program because I have gained much needed digital knowledge.

Tool 10: Underneath i All - Digital Citizenship

1.  Three things I want my students to understand about being good digital citizens are: 1) online harassment 2)  avoiding plagerism and 3) learning about the licenses to mark creative work.
2.  I plan to discuss the iSafe program.
3.  I would teach it the same as any other character rule in order to be successful and safe in this digital world.
4. The digital plan will be shared with parents through class newsletter.

Tool 9: Incorporating Classroom-Based Devices as Tools for Learning

1.  It is important to tie technology to the objective in order for students to gain additional knowledge as well as retain and apply concepts in various means.
2.  Students should be held accountable for the stations in order to develop self-responsibility, self-control and safe practices.
3.  I liked Learning Games for Kids and Mangahigh because these can be used for students that are unable to participate during Health Fitness and stay engaged in a fun learning experience.  Students will be held accountable by completing a game and using the equipment properly or will have to do a written worksheet instead.
4.iMovie and Educreation are apps that I use in a station for students to have a recovery break while showing a check for understanding by drawing a diagram of the field, boundaries, positions, etc. or using iMovie to select photos or short video clips to create individual portfolios.  Ongoing updates are graded as a Participation or Cognitive grade.
5.  iPad or iTouches are used for students to take video clips of each other to peer assess and reflect on fundamentals and skill mastery.

Tool 8: Taking a look at the Tools

1.  The tools that will be in my gym are LCD projector, iTouches.  I have a personal iPad that I will use as well.
2.  I will manage the devices this year by using Apps for classroom management, student feedback and student protofolios.  I will use i Movie to allow students to select their pics/video clips to create personal portfolios, Randomness App for calling on studetns to check for understanding, Educreation to show students court positions for game play understanding, Too Noisy for student volume levels, iPod for music and timer for station transitions.

Tool 7: Going Global: Digital Projects

1. Objective:  To engage with fellow Houstonian students in a cupstacking activity using 9 cups for an up stack and down stack lesson.
2.  Date:  The last week of school.
3. Tool to be used:  Skype
4.  To work with a fellow colleague at Harvard Elementary. We will have a cup stacking contest with our classes.  It will be great to engage with other Houston Area students that share the same interests.

Tool 6 Using Web Tools to Promote Discussion in and out of the Classroom

I can see using Cover it Live and Skype for lesson activities and our Family Fitness Night.

I would like to use Cover it Live to showcase and engage students, parents and community leaders during our upcoming Family Fitness Night.  My colleague and I have arranged to Skype with fellow Physical Education classes around the Greater Houston Metro Area.  I believe the Skype interaction will provide an avenue for our students as well as theirs to see how students perform, behave, engage and learn during a similar unit/lesson.  I believe this will create greater dialogue and build connections with the outside community.

Tool 5 Web 2.0

My experience in learning the Big Huge Labs, "The Motivator" and Wordle are tools that I can use all the time.  I can create posters to motivate my students, provide visuals to help my ELL students and provide a language enriched environment in the Gym.
